A 28-year-old woman is behind bars after she allegedly shot and killed a man because he refused to kiss her.
The incident occurred at a home in Rolling Meadows, Illinois.
Officials say the suspect Claudia Resendiz-Florez, was staying at a home with the victim James Jones, and his girlfriend.
On Thursday, the group decided to have drinks at the home and at some point during the hangout, Resendiz-Florez asked Jones to kiss her. Jones refused because he had a girlfriend who was at the time, sitting right next to him.
He then leaned over to his girlfriend and gave her a kiss.
Resendiz-Florez then asked Jones’ girlfriend for a kiss and she also refused. Resendiz-Florez then asked Jones again and when he refused a second time, she reached between two couch cushions where Jones kept a gun and pulled out the weapon. She then aimed it at the couple.
Jones then attempted to push the gun down as Resendiz-Florez removed the gun’s safety. She then fired one shot at Jones, striking him in the chest.
Jones’ girlfriend called the police. When authorities arrived Resendiz-Florez allegedly admitted to shooting Jones.
She has since been taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder. Her next court date is on Tuesday.
