Officials in Massachusetts are reporting that a woman volunteering at a family therapy farm has died after she was attacked by a comfort animal.
The incident was reported at Cultivate Care Farms in Bolton, on Saturday morning.
Police say the victim 73-year-old Kim Taylor was in the pen alone with a sheep when it suddenly charged at her.
Taylor was said to have suffered extensive injuries and then went into cardiac arrest soon after first responders arrived.
She was rushed to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Investigators reported that Taylor had been working on the farm for about a year and that all of the animals were therapy animals.
The farm’s directors, Megan Moran released a statement about Taylor’s death:
“Kim was beloved by all who worked with her during the 14 months she volunteered at the farm,” Moran, said.
“I, along with the Cultivate Care Farms Board and the entire team, wish to express our deepest condolences and our heartfelt love and support to Kim’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.”
