Myrtle Beach MYRTLE BEACH, SC–
A 63-year-old woman has died after she was impaled by a windswept beach umbrella.
The incident occurred on Wednesday around 12:40 p.m. at Garden City beach.
According to the report, a strong gust of wind blew the unsecured umbrella in the direction of the woman.
She was struck in the chest and suffered trauma. An off-duty medical worker and several other Good Samaritans attended to the victim until medical personnel could arrive.
The victim was taken to an area hospital where she later died from her injuries.
