Police in Greensboro, North Carolina have arrested a 30-year-old man who reportedly snuck into a female college student’s apartment and began trying on her clothes.
The incident occurred Saturday at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro.
The student told authorities that when she arrived home, she noticed strange noises coming from her closet. When she asked who’s there, the man who had been hiding in the closet replied “My name’s Drew.”
She then asked the man if he planned to harm her told her no.
“Before I open the door — are you gonna do anything to me? Are you gonna do anything? And he’s like, ‘No, no, no.'”
The student who only wanted to be identified as Maddie then opened the door to find the man sitting on the floor of her clothes, wearing her clothes with a bag full of clothes and shoes in one of his hands.
Authorities said Maddie spoke to the man for about 10 minutes while she texted photos of the incident to her boyfriend. When Maddie’s boyfriend showed up to the apartment, the man left.
According to the report this may not have been the first time the man made himself at home in Maddie’s apartment.
“We always joke that there’s a ghost in here because I’ve been missing clothes since I’ve been living here, like shirts — like a shirt at a time or pants at this time. It makes me think he’s been here before,” Maddie told CBS17.
Authorities were able to locate the suspect at a nearby gas station where he was arrested and charged with misdemeanor breaking and entering.
