A 46-year-old woman has been arrested for making bomb threat at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
Marina Verbitsky was taken into custody Monday night after claiming that she had a bomb in her checked-in luggage and aboard a plane.
During a police interview, Verbitsky confessed that she made the claim after airline staff informed her that she and her party arrived to the airport too late to make their plane.
The plane was in the process of being taxied to the runway but had not taken off at the time of the claim. It was rerouted and all of the passengers and crew members were evacuated.
Authorities searched the plane and did not find any evidence of explosives.
Verbitsky was taken into custody and charged with falsely reporting a bomb, explosive or weapon of mass destruction.
