A Texas woman is now behind bars after she allegedly attempted to buy another woman’s baby while shopping at Walmart.

The incident occurred in Crockett, Texas.

Authorities say the suspect identified as Rebecca Lanette Taylor approached the mother while the mother was in the checkout line at Walmart.

The mother says that Taylor came up to her and asked her how much she wanted for her son. Thinking Taylor was joking, the woman says she laughed off the offer.  That’s when Taylor offered her $250,000 for the child. The woman then declined the offer.

Taylor reportedly then watched as the mother and son left the store to get to their car and once again approached them.

At that point, Taylor began banging on the woman’s windows and screaming that she was willing to pay $500,000 for the child and that she would take him.

The mother was thankfully able to drive away and contact police.

Investigators later located Taylor and took her into custody. She has since bonded out of jail.
