
A 36-year-old woman has been arrested after police say she attempted to set her roommate on fire.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, Feb. 22nd in East Baton Rouge.
Police say Christine Guidry poured rubbing alcohol on her 66-year-old roommate and all over his room before pulling out a lighter and attempting the set him on fire.
The victim was able to escape the room and ran outside the home as Guidry followed closely behind him. The victim then made contact with a passerby and used their phone to contact police.
The victim showed police the lighter that he was targeted with and the empty alcohol container. The responding officer also noted in the report that they could smell alcohol all over the victim’s clothing and in the home.
Authorities say that the pair had been living together for two years and this is the second time Guidry attempted to assault the man.
The first instance occurred on July 4, 2021. The victim told authorities that Guidry doused him in alcohol and then set him on fire. The incident resulted in the victim being admitted to a Baton Rouge hospital for “32 days due to being burned.”
At the time, the victim did not file any charges and remained in the household.
Guidry has been arrested and booked into East Baton Rouge Prison. She faces charges of at least one count of cruelty to persons with infirmities.
