(WEST PALM BEACH, FLA) — UPDATE — West Palm Beach Mayor Keith James will lead a lighting ceremony for the world’s only 35-foot-tall, 800-ton holiday sand tree, Sandi. Guests of all ages are invited to witness the magic of Sandi’s light show and 11th anniversary celebration at Clematis by Night along the city’s waterfront with Ferris the Ferris wheel. 850WFTL’s Bill Adams will also attend the lighting ceremony.

ORIGINAL STORY: Monday morning 800 tons of sand will start rolling into the downtown West Palm Beach Waterfront on Clematis Street to be sculpted into “Sandi,” the holiday sand tree that has become one of South Florida’s most famous and beloved holiday celebrations.
Starting early Monday morning 8-10 daily truckloads of sand are expected to arrive.
As with every year, the star of the City of West Palm Beach’s Holiday in Paradise (HIP) is returning with a new seasonal theme and elements.
Announced Friday morning, Sandi’s 11th annual return will feature a visit from “Ferris” – a Ferris wheel. Guests of the month-long holiday celebration can now see Sandi shows from an aerial view.
The sand delivery marks the start of preparing Sandi for the Clematis by Night Holiday Tree Lighting on Thursday, December 1 from 6 to 10 p.m.
Since her debut in 2012, Sandi has received numerous international and regional awards and accolades, including “Best New Event” and “Best Event within an Existing Festival” by the International Festivals and Events Association, “Most Innovative Project” by the Florida Festivals and Events Association and a Henry Award from VISIT FLORIDA.
HIP was recognized in 2021 as the USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice for “Best Public Holiday Lights Display.”
