(FORT PIERCE, FLA) — As early voting begins Monday in the Sunshine State, voters will be able to get a good look at the two men running for the state’s top office tonight.
Incumbent Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has a double digit lead in the polls over former Congressman Charlie Crist so his goal tonight is not to make a mistake.
Barry University Political Science Professor Dr. Sean Foreman joined The South Florida Morning Show to preview the debate. He says that DeSantis need only point to his numerous successes and there is not need to “go low.”
Crist, who resigned his House seat on August 31, 2022 to focus on his gubernatorial campaign, was also Florida’s 44th governor from 2007-2011 for a single term.
Crist is expected to attack DeSantis on abortion, critical race theory, immigration and what critics call the “Don’t Say Gay” law. DeSantis is expected to counter by calling Crist a flip-flopper. The debate, their first and only, was postponed due to Hurricane Ian. It starts at 7 pm Eastern.
