(MIAMI-DADE, FLA) — Sunday night, CBS 60 Minutes dedicated 17 minutes to the collapse of the condo building in Surfside last year that killed 98 people.
Champlain Towers South, a 40-year-old condominium in the city of Surfside, collapsed in the middle of the night and long-story-short, we still don’t know what caused the collapse and probably won’t until at least 2023-24, according to one investigator.
What is certain is that since the collapse, lawmakers in Tallahassee have passed new laws requiring inspections not just in Broward and Miami-Dade counties, but of older buildings in every Florida county.
As a result, the bill has come due, especially for seniors who are living in those condos on a fixed income. Condo Craze and HOA’s host attorney Eric Glazer is featured in this 60 Minutes episode.
