(MELBOURNE, FLA) — Surveillance footage captured a fireworks store in West Melbourne engulfed in flames after an SUV crashed into the building Monday afternoon.
Fire Rescue responded to a car crash at 4433 West New Haven Ave. Authorities arrived on scene to the store heavily deteriorating with intense fire conditions, according to the Brevard County Fire Rescue.
An SUV crashed into a Toyota Tacoma, and the impact sent both vehicles through an intersection and into the parking lot of Phantom Fireworks.
“I heard the initial impact, so I looked over and saw a white Tacoma hit by a red SUV. The Tacoma veered off, and the SUV just kept going right into the building,” a witness told FOX 35 News. “The white Tacoma tried to brake, and you could hear wheels squealing and it just kind of veered off, out of the way.”
The driver continued to pursue from the parking lot into the store, prompting fireworks to set off throughout the store and immersing the car in flames.
The SUV driver, whose identity is currently unknown, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Thirty firefighters across multiple agencies responded to the fire and safely lead employees out of the property, according to Fire Chief Patrick Voltaire.
The driver of the Toyota Tacoma was reportedly unharmed.
Authorities are actively investigating the cause of the crash.
