LEHIGH ACRES, FL– The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a group of people who ambushed an elderly pair driving in their vehicle before fleeing the scene. 

The incident was reported on Sunday at the intersection of Homestead Road and Milwaukee Boulevard around 4:00 a.m.

The victims appear to have been driving through the area when they got caught in a large gathering for a car meet. 

Video from the scene shows a suspect running up to the vehicle and opening fire inside of the driver’s side window, before fleeing the area.

Authorities are asking anyone who believes they recognize the gunman or have any information about the situation to contact the sheriff’s office at 239-477-1000.
