Victim dies in shootout after two men attempt to rob him

Pembroke Park, FL — The Broward Sheriff’s Office has arrested two suspects who they say fatally shot a victim in a shootout during a robbery attempt.
The incident was reported around 7:15 p.m. Monday near 5500 Southwest 41st Street.
Authorities say they were notified about gunfire and arrived at the scene to find three men suffering from gunshot wounds.
One man was pronounced dead at the scene, while two other men were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
During their investigation, authorities learned that the two surviving men attempted to rob the deceased at gunpoint.
The victim, however, had a gun and engaged in a shootout with the suspects.
The suspects have been identified as Samuel Johnson and Israel Griffin.
Following treatment at the hospital, they were taken into police custody on charges of murder, robbery with a firearm, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
