Update: Six dead in Nashville Covenant School shooting

Nashville, TN– Six people are dead after a female shooter opened fire at a private school in Nashville.
The shooting occurred around 10:30 a.m. at Covenant School, which is run by the Covenant Presbyterian Church, on Burton Hills Dr.
“An active shooter event has taken place at Covenant School, Covenant Presbyterian Church, on Burton Hills Dr,” Nashville Police said in a tweet.
The shooter was killed after being “engaged by” police according to the report.
Authorities say that the  shooter, who appeared to be in her teens but has now been identified as a 28-year-old former student,  opened fire inside the school using two “assault-style” rifles and a pistol.

Three children and three adults were killed in the shooting,  though no other information about the victims or the shooter have been released at this time.
The school has been evacuated and the children were taken to a nearby church to be reunited with their parents.
The school is said to cater to children in grades pre-K through 6th and has about 200 students enrolled.
