Officials in St. Lucie County are reporting that a mother and her 18-month-old baby girl have died in a fire in the mobile home on Monday.

The incident was reported around 2:45 am in the Colony Club Mobile Home Park near Fort Pierce.

Authorities say Mandy Rau and her daughter and two other adults were sleeping inside of the mobile home when the fire quickly spread throughout the home.

Rau and two other adults were said to have been able to escape the fire, however, the 18-month-old was still trapped inside of the home.

Rau and one other adult were transported to the hospital where Rau soon passed due to her injuries.

One other victim remains in the hospital with severe injuries.

Investigators say they believe that the fire was caused by an electrical malfunction.
