LANTANA, FL– Two people have died following a plane crash at the Lantana Airport on Friday.
The crash occurred shortly before 11:30 a.m. at the Palm Beach County Park Airport.
Aerial video from our news partners at WPTV showed the aircraft, identified as a single-engine Cessna 172 in pieces in a grassy area near the runway.
Originally it was said that one person was transported to the hospital from the scene, however, it is now being reported that two people have died as a result of the crash.
According to reports, the airport is home to several aviation schools but it is unclear if the victims were a part of the programs.
The FAA and National Transportation Safety Boards are investigating.
A preliminary report is expected in 2-3 weeks.
