A Michigan jury on Friday found two of the four men accused of plotting to kidnap Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) in 2020 not guilty.

Daniel Harris and Brandon Caserta were acquitted in the alleged conspiracy while jurors were unable to reach a unanimous verdict on the charges against Adam Fox, the supposed ringleader, and Barry Croft Jr.

The four faced numerous charges including conspiring to kidnap Whitmer along with weapons and explosives charges.

Whitmer and prosecutors maintain the men wanted to kidnap and harm the governor in 2020 due to COVID restrictions in effect at the time with the Democrat maintaining the plot was born out of anti-restriction talk by then president Donald Trump.

Attorneys for the men said the group were the victims of government entrapment and they were never serious about kidnapping Whitmer.

There is currently no word on a possible retrial for Fox and Croft.
