Former US president Donald Trump escalated his feud with billionaire Elon Musk after saying he could have made him “drop to his knees and beg.”

On Tuesday, Trump took to Truth Social to fire back at Musk in a series of posts. This comes after Musk said it was time for the former president to “hang up his hat & sail into the sunset,” via Twitter.

“When Elon Musk came to the White House asking me for help on all of his many subsidized projects, whether it’s electric cars that don’t drive long enough, driverless cars that crash, or rocketships to nowhere, without which subsidies he’d be worthless, and telling me how he was a big Trump fan and Republican, I could have said, ‘drop to your knees and beg,’ and he would have done it,” Trump claimed in a post.

“Now Elon should focus on getting himself out of the Twitter mess because he could owe $44 billion for something that’s perhaps worthless,” Trump also wrote of Musk.

Elon Musk is currently facing legal action after pulling out of his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter.

Musk’s response? Well it appears he seems unfazed by Trump’s insults. In response to a Twitter user who tagged Musk in a screenshot of Trump’s post on Tuesday, the billionaire responded with a tweet of his own, stating: “Lmaooo” and adding a Grandpa Simpson gif.

The feud between Musk and Trump started after the former President called Musk a “bulls*** artist” at a rally over the weekend, accusing the billionaire of lying about voting for him in 2016.

In response, Musk tweeted that he did not “hate” Trump but thought it was time for the former president to “hang up his hat”.
