Tropical Storms Peter and Odette likely to form in the tropics

According to the National Hurricane Center Nicholas continues to produce heavy rainfall across parts of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama and the Panhandle.

Two to 5 inches of rainfall is possible, with isolated amounts up to 8 inches possible.

Forecasters continue to monitor three areas for potential storm development, two of which could potentially form into Tropical Storm Odette and Tropical Storm Peter.

It’s just the peak of hurricane season, and the tropics are teeming with activity.

“There is a high chance this system will become a tropical depression, then a tropical storm within the next few days, ” according to AccuWeather senior meteorologist Dan Kottlowski.

Invest 95L, could form into Tropical Storm Odette as it moves west-northwest across the Atlantic in the general direction of the far eastern Caribbean.

But it’s too early to know where it might end up.
