As of the 5:00 p.m. advisory, the storm’s maximum sustained winds have increased to near 40 mph.
Currently, there are no coastal watches or warnings in effect, but the storm is expected to strengthen into a hurricane as it continues to travel in a westward direction.
As of the latest forecast, Tropical Storm Bret is expected to become a hurricane by Wednesday and is expected to approach the Lesser Antilles late this week.
