
West Palm Beach, FL — The National Hurricane Center is reporting that Tropical Storm Bret has officially formed over the Central Atlantic Ocean.
As of the 5:00 p.m. advisory, the storm’s maximum sustained winds have increased to near 40 mph.
Currently, there are no coastal watches or warnings in effect, but the storm is expected to strengthen into a hurricane as it continues to travel in a westward direction.
As of the latest forecast, Tropical Storm Bret is expected to become a hurricane by Wednesday and is expected to approach the Lesser Antilles late this week.
Forecasters are recommending that those in the Lesser Antilles, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and surrounding areas keep a close eye on weather conditions and have a hurricane plan in place.
