Forecasters are predicting that Tropical Storm Bret will become a hurricane by Thursday or Friday of this week.
As of the 5:00 a.m. National Hurricane Center advisory, the Tropical storm was moving west at 17 mph.
It currently has maximum sustained winds of 40 mph with higher wind gusts and is expected to strengthen over time.
Forecasters predict that Tropical Storm Bret could reach Hurricane strength before approaching the Lesser
Antilles later this week.
While there are no coastal watches or warnings in effect, the National Hurricane Center is recommending that those in the Lesser Antilles, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands closely monitor storm updates and have a hurricane plan in place.
