Authorities in Georgia are reporting that they have discovered the body of a 32-year-old man after another trucker spotted a trail of blood at a truck stop.
The discovery was made at the Love’s Travel Stop on Monticello Highway around 5:30 p.m.
A Truck driver told police that upon examining the truck that was tucked in the back of parking lot, he noticed blood dripping from the door and called police.
When authorities arrived, they noticed a foul stench coming from the truck. They then opened the vehicle to find the body of another trucker. Authorities also reported that the key was in the ignition and in the on position, but the truck had run out of gas sometime before they got there.
The victim has been identified as Adam Walker of Columbus. Investigators say he had been driving the truck to deliver tractor or lawn mower parts from Chicago to Jacksonville.
According to the report, Walker’s body had been at the scene for several days and the blood is believed to be fluids oozing from the body that was in a state of decomposition.
Authorities are still working to determine Walker’s cause of death but say they do not believe foul play was the cause:
“There is an ongoing investigation to determine events leading up to the discovery of the body. At this time, no foul play is suspected; however, we will await the completion of the autopsy before making any final determinations,” Madison Police Department Chief Bill Ashburn said.
