The Town of Palm Beach is scheduled to take a vote on whether or not to ban smoking on public beaches.
The council is currently in a meeting to discuss several items including the smoking ban ordinance.
The vote comes just weeks after Governor Ron DeSantis signed a law to allow Florida counties to limit or prohibit smoking on beaches.
Officials say the main concern about smoking on the beach is the cigarette buds and trash that are typically discarded on the beach.
If the measure is approved, the discussion at the next town meeting will be focused on the adoption of the rule.
