A 2-year-old boy has died after he fell into a septic tank while visiting a home in North Carolina.
The incident was reported on Tuesday, May 10th, at a home on Bonner Road.
Authorities say the New York area family was visiting other family members when the incident occurred:
“This child, two siblings and his mom were visiting friends … when the mother said she noticed him missing. During a search around the home the lid on a septic tank was noticed to have been upside down,” Fowler said.
When the family lifted the lid, they found the child’s pacifier floating in the water.
The child was eventually located underwater inside the tank.
CPR was performed on the child at the scene before he was transferred to an area hospital.
The child was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Authorities are still investigating the incident.
