Team USA tennis player and Delray Beach resident, Coco Gauff, announced Sunday afternoon that she tested positive for COVID-19 and will no longer be attending the Olympics in Tokyo.

“I hope there will be many more chances for me to make this come true in the future, “she wrote.

Gauff would have been second-youngest U.S. player to compete.

The Olympics start on Friday in Tokyo and run until Aug. 8.

This comes after two South African soccer players became the first athletes inside the Olympic Village to test positive for COVID-19, with Tokyo Games opening on Friday.
