The Mayor of Tennessee reportedly ordered the American flag to fly at half-staff during President Biden’s inauguration.
According to a Facebook post the Town of Bruceton, the Mayor said that the town was in grieving for the loss of their freedoms:
” The Town of Bruceton grieves for our Republic and our loss of freedoms. We mourn the victims of the Chinese plague and those that have suffered its depredations. We pray that God delivers and restores us and that we do not fall to the clutches of communism. – Robert T. Keeton III, Mayor of Bruceton. ”
After the post, Mayor Keeton III spoke to the Jackson Sun saying hat as an attorney he has seen ” our constitutional rights being trampled on virtually every day.”
While there were some supporters of the post, others disagreed with it saying that it only served to create more division:
“If you are not from Bruceton, this is not a reflection of what every one in this town thinks. I agree we have freedom of speech but a public Facebook page is not the place for personal opinions. You couldn’t possibly think that by posting this you would not get a rise out of the people. This is definitely going to cause a division.. Which is not what our town OR our country needs right now. This is extremely embarrassing and immature.”
Another user wrote that they “respect Bob more today than I ever have.”
