Monday evening, police revealed that ten children between the ages of 4-months and 12-years-old were removed from a California home by police after an abuse investigation.

Fairfield police Lt. Greg Hurlbut said that the children taken from the home had puncture wounds, burns, bruises and injuries consistent with being shot with a pellet gun.

Additionally, he said the abuse was disclosed to police in interviews with each of the children over the last six weeks.

The investigation began on March 31 when police in Fairfield, California responded to a missing children’s report.

When police finally located the missing 12 -year-old and were inside the family home, officers say the boy and the other nine children were “living in squalor and unsafe conditions.

Police also added that officers found spoiled food on the floor and animal and human feces at the house.

As a result, the children were taken into protective custody and their mother, 30-year-old Ina Rogers, was soon booked into Solano County Jail on child neglect charges.

On April 9. Rogers was released after posting $10,000 bail.

The children’s father, Jonathan Allen, 29, was arrested on May 11 following an investigation and faces multiple charges including seven counts of felony torture and nine counts of felony child abuse.

Monday, the children’s mother spoke to reporters deeming the whole situation a “misunderstanding.”

She claims “there was never any abuse,” and that the family home only looked the way it did to police because she and her kids “turned the house upside down” looking for the “developmentally delayed child.”
