A Georgia teen who was visiting the state of Florida has died after he was struck by lightning.
The teen’s parents released a statement reporting his passing on Wednesday after the teen spent nearly two weeks in the hospital.
“He passed away peacefully this afternoon, listening to one of his favorite Allman Brothers songs, appropriately named, ‘Soulshine,’” his family wrote Wednesday on a fundraising page for his medical costs.
According to the report, 17-year-old William “Walker” Bethune of Macon, Georgia was walking on Tigertail Beach with his family when he asked his father for his baseball hat.
While in the process of putting on the hat, Walker was struck by lightning.
He was rushed an area hospital and later airlifted to a hospital in Miami, where he eventually succumbed to his injuries.
