A 16-year-old boy is in critical condition after he was shot in the head while waiting for his school bus.

The incident was reported on Tuesday morning in Gwinnett County, Georgia.

Authorities say they were called to the scene around 6:30 a.m. after a witness heard gun fire and saw the teen laying in the street.

The teen was taken to a nearby hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Officials say they were able to locate the gunman within the same neighborhood where the shooting took place.

The gunman is described as a 17-year-old fellow student. He has been taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony according to police.
