A 14-year-old high school student has been charged with assault after he wrapped a belt around a teacher’s neck and pulled on it.

The incident occurred on March 2nd at Bethel High School.

Pierce County deputies say that the physical education teacher was instructing a group of students when the student snuck up behind her and put his belt around her neck.

The teacher immediately grabbed the belt from the student and removed it from her neck.

According to the report, the student apologized to the teacher and told police he was “being dumb.”

He was taken to the Remann Hall Pierce County Juvenile Detention Center and was later released to his parents.
