Authorities in Canada have taken a 17 year old boy into custody in connection with a threat to shoot people at the annual Pride On The Block event in downtown West Palm Beach over the weekend.

The event, which took place on Sunday, is a gay pride festival along Clematis Street.

The online threat emerged earlier that day, apparently perpetrated by a young Black male who claimed to be a Palm Beach County resident.

City of Miami police became aware of the threat and alerted authorities in West Palm.

The individual in the video, whose name has not yet been released, made a number of anti-gay remarks in the Omegele video while brandishing a handgun.

He has been charged by Canadian authorities with threatening to commit a mass shooting and West Palm police intend to press charges as well.

Security was enhanced for Pride on the Block, at which there were no incidents of violence.
