(PALM BEACH GARDENS, Florida)– A teacher working in Palm Beach Gardens was arrested on several child pornography charges on Wednesday.

Edward Parker, 54, was a second-grade teacher at Timber Trace Elementary School and was arrested by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office on charges of 30 counts of possession of 10 or more images of “Sexual Performance by a Child,” the PBSO said in a news release.

According to a Palm Beach County schools news release, Parker has been working at Timber Trace Elementary since 2002.

Parker was arrested off-campus after the PBSO said its Special Victims Unit caught a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children concerning Parker uploading and viewing child pornography.

Kathy Pasquariello, the principal of Timber Trace Elementary released a statement to reassure parents and students, saying, “I want to assure all of our families that our school and District take all allegations of misconduct very seriously. Mr. Parker will not be returning to our campus,”

Parker is detained in Palm Beach County Jail, and his bond is set at $150,000.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office urges anyone who may have had inappropriate contact with Parker to call Detective Malory Wildove at (561) 688-4079.
