Sylvia Weinstock ‘Queen of Cake,’ dies at 91


Silvia Weinstock died on Monday, Nov. 22 at age 91, according to People magazine.

A representative told the publication the famous designer died “peacefully in her home in Tribeca, surrounded by her loving family”

Weinstock was known for taking the wedding cake industry by storm, then becoming the most sought after baker to the stars and beyond.

She was most famous for her signature flowers by deconstructing real blooms, petal by petal, reforming them in sugar dough by hand.

For many years, Weinstock, who grew up in a family she described as culturally Jewish. works as an elementary school teacher and a homemaker, raising three daughters in Massapequa, on New York’s Long Island.

The ‘Queen of Cake’ made guest appearances on television shows “Master Chef,” “Gossip Girl” and the Netflix show “Nailed It.”

Jennifer Lopez and Oprah are huge fans of Weinstock’s cakes.
