A Long Island man has been arrested after he broke into a couple’s hotel room and stole money before fleeing the scene.

The incident was reported at the Travelodge hotel on Northern Boulevard in Manhasset, New York

Officials say the suspect 29-year-old Michael C. Lee broke in to the couple’s room through an unlocked sliding glass window around 3 a.m.

The woman in the room noticed Lee and called out to her boyfriend for help.

The couple then demanded that Lee identify himself and tell them why he was in their room. Lee gave the couple his ID then fled the room, leaving it behind.

Authorities were able locate Lee around 5:00 a.m. and took him into custody without incident.

Lee has since been charged with second-degree burglary and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
