
A 26-year-old has been arrested in connection with a shooting in downtown Sacramento, California that left six people dead over the weekend.
The suspect identified as Dandre Martin was taken into custody on Monday.
While authorities could not tell reporters much about the ongoing investigation, the press release identified Martin as a “related suspect.”
“Right now that’s really all we’re able to share about him,” authorities said. “As you know this is a complex investigation and we’re looking for multiple suspects and so we’re currently working to identify what his role was the night of the shooting.”
Six people were killed and another 12 were injured after several suspect opened fire following a fight in the downtown area known for its bars and restaurants.
The six victims have been identified as :
- Johntaya Alexander, 21
- Melinda Davis, 57
- Sergio Harris, 38
- Joshua Hoye-Lucchesi, 32
- Yamile Martinez-Andrade, 21
- Devazia Turner, 29
At least three buildings and three cars were also hit by gunfire. Authorities also reported that they discovered more than 100 bullet casings were recovered from the scene.
One handgun was recovered after authorities served warrants on three residences in the area.
The 26-year-old suspect has been booked on charges of assault with a firearm and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.
Authorities are continuing to search for the other suspects.
