Fort Lauderdale, FL– A woman who ran for town commission in Surfside has been arrested on premeditated murder charges.
52-year-old Shannon Gallagher was taken into custody on Friday for first-degree murder with a firearm.
According to the report, the sealed indictment was issued on December 8, 2022, and a warrant for Gallagher’s arrest was issued the day after.
While the indictment was sealed, records did indicate that Gallagher’s uncle died on March 21, 2022, in Fort Lauderdale, the same day the murder took place.
Records also show that four days before his death, Gallagher’s uncle changed his last will and testament to state that everything was to be left to Gallagher and nothing go to his daughter, two sons, grandson, and ex-wife.
Gallagher is currently being held at the Broward County Sheriff’s office on no bond.
During a bond hearing, Gallagher’s lawyer asked for Gallagher to be seen by a doctor after being involved in a vehicle crash while she was being transported to jail.
