Okeechobee, FL– The Okeechobee County Sheriffs’ Office has launched an investigation after a concertgoer discovered a body while attending the Okeechobee Music Festival last week.
Authorities say the victim, identified as 26-year-old Steven Nguyen, was found unresponsive in a body of water near one of the stages.
According to a friend of the victim, Nguyen was last seen around 11 p.m. the previous night near the Incendia Stage. His body was later found submerged in water adjacent to that stage.
Authorities are still investigating the incident but reported that they do not expect foul play at this time:
“There is no suspected foul play in the death of Steven Nguyen. The investigation is pending an autopsy for a conclusion. Our prayers go to the family, friends, and festival participants affected by this tragedy,” OCSO said.
The Okeechobee Music Festival was held at Sunshine Grove from March 2nd through the 5th.
