WELLINGTON, FL– An 18-year-old student was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after she was struck by a PBSO cruiser while traveling to school.
The accident occurred at the intersection of South Shore Boulevard and Polo Gardens Drive just two miles away from Wellington Community High School and New Horizons Elementary School.
Officials say the student was crossing Polo Gardens Drive at a driveway at 7:11 a.m. when the deputy failed to stop at the stop sign and hit the student.
The student was sent to the ground and suffered minor injuries.
She was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center for treatment.
