Authorities in Syracuse, New York have taken a 13-year-old student into custody after the student brought a loaded gun to school.
The handgun was discovered at Edward Smith k-8 School on Tuesday.
According to police, a student noticed the gun and immediately contacted his parent.
The parent then called the police.
Syracuse Police say that the student was “acting unhinged,” and they noticed the gun under the child’s shirt.
Authorities were able to get the gun away from the child and bring him into custody.
The school says they are aware of the incident and are working with police.
It is unclear why the student brought the gun to school.
This incident is still under investigation.
