The stepfather of a young child who was saved by an observant restaurant manager last year has been convicted on abuse charges.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred at a restaurant in Orlando, Florida in January of 2021.
Authorities say a restaurant manager noticed that a family was depriving a child of food and that the child had several bruises on his body.
The manager then wrote a note to the child and asked him if he needed help.
When the child replied yes, the manager contacted the police.
The note led to an investigation in which authorities found that the child was in fact being abused.
Authorities say the child was kept in a hotel room that the parents used for storage and that he was deprived of food and drink and endured military-style abuse.
36-year-old Timothy Lee Wilson was convicted on 10 charges including false imprisonment of a child under 13, aggravated child abuse with a weapon, and neglect.
The child’s mother Kristen Swann, has also since been taken into custody later and is facing multiple charges.
