Florida– The Florida Division of Emergency Management has issued an apology after accidentally sending out a mass text message test of its emergency system while the public was sleeping.
The text was sent out to those who opted into state emergency notifications at 4:45 a.m. Thursday.
The department reported that while a test of their emergency system was scheduled for that time, it was supposed to run on the television.

We are taking the appropriate action to ensure this will never happen again and that only true emergencies are sent as alerts in the middle of the night.
