(FORT PIERCE, FL)- Shots were fired at St. Lucie County deputies after they attempted a traffic stop Wednesday night, the sheriff’s office said.

According to the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s, at around 5:45 p.m., deputies attempted a traffic stop at the 1200 block of North 17th Street near Lincoln Park Academy in Fort Pierce. The deputies were fired upon from occupants inside the vehicle.

No injuries were reported. The incident is still being investigated.
