House Speaker Nancy Pelosi finally named seven managers to the impeachment trial of President Trump that will likely start Tuesday.
Pelosi says that the House will vote to send the articles over to the Senate today.
The managers announced today will be led by California’s Adam Schiff and New York’s Jerry Nadler, chairs of the House Intelligence and Judiciary Committees.
The other managers are California’s Zoe Lofgren, New York’s Hakeem Jeffries, Florida’s Val Demings, Colorado’s Jason Crow and Texan Sylvia Garcia.
Pelosi defended withholding the articles of impeachment for a month, saying new evidence against Trump has emerged during that time.
The upcoming Senate trial will determine if Trump is removed from office.
Nadler said there is “overwhelming evidence” that Trump abused his power and obstructed Congress in the investigation of the Ukraine scandal.
Schiff challenged the Republican-led Senate to hold a fair trial and avoid presiding over a “sham.”
