(HOLLYWOOD, FL)– The Hollywood Police Department has arrested the assistant football coach for South Broward High School after it was found that he was having a sexually explicit relationship with a student.
28-year-old Maquedius Dashad Bain was taken into custody on Monday following an investigation into text messages that were sent between him and the victim.
Authorities began investigating Bain after the victim’s parent found text messages on the victim’s phone and confronted her about it before contacting police: “[The victim]’s mother found explicit text messages between [the victim] and the coach detailing the relationship. She confronted [the victim] about the texts and [the victim] disclosed the relationship. Bain is a high school football coach at South Broward High School, located in Hollywood, Fla.”
Due to how explicit the text messages were, authorities were able to get a warrant for his arrest.
When confronted with the allegations, Bain admitted that he sent the text messages.
Authorities also found that Bain and the victim engaged in sexual activity several times throughout the week, including two days before he was arrested.
Bain is now facing eight counts of sexual battery; plus, being an authority figure engaging in sexual conduct with a student and traveling to meet a minor for sex.
He was taken to the Broward County’s Main Jail where his bail was set at $100,000 for each count.
