(MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL)– The 10-year-old son of a Miami-Dade Corrections officer has died after his 13-year-old son got ahold of a firearm.
The incident occurred in the family’s apartment home earlier this week.
Authorities say the teen found the firearm inside the master bedroom closet and accidentally discharged it.
The 10-year-old was struck in the torso and rushed to an area hospital.
Officials reported on Thursday that the child did not survive.
According to the report, no adults were home at the time of the incident.
No charges are expected to be filed.
