Something borrowed, “Father of the Bride,” set in Miami is setting records for HBO Max

The third take on “Father of the Bride,” this time with a Latin flair shot in the 305, is setting records for HBO Max.

The romantic comedy stars Andy Garcia and Miami Sound Machine maven, Gloria Estefan as the father and mother of the bride whose own marriage is on the rocks.

This latest rendition of “Father of the Bride” which first hit the silver screen in 1950 starring Spencer Tracy and Elizabeth Taylor, became the platform’s biggest ever streaming-only premiere.

Steve Martin and Diane Keaton starred in the second remake.

The Latino update to the “Father of the Bride” story was the number one movie on HBO Max around the world in its first four days since launching Thursday.

The movie saw its biggest numbers in the U.S. with Mexico coming in as the second-strongest country for viewership. The film was directed by Mexican filmmaker Gary Alazraki.
