
MIRAMAR, FL– A small plane was forced to make an emergency landing near the Miami-Dade/Broward county line due to engine trouble.
The Piper PA-28 landed in the southbound lanes of U.S. 27 on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the FAA, two pilots were practicing maneuvers over the Everglades in a rental plane when there was a break in the engine and oil began to leak.
The pilots were able to safely land the plane and no injuries were reported.
Traffic is backed up in the area as crews work to remove the plane.
According to the report, officials will likely remove its wings and transport it back to North Perry Airport.
