(TALLAHASSEE, Florida)– Police are investigating a shootout in a parking lot in Tallahassee that left 1 person dead and 8 others wounded.

Tallahassee Police Chief Lawrence Revell says the shootout started in the parking lots of a liquor store and restaurant late Saturday night.

Police officers responding to the incident say they witnessed a man firing a weapon into a crowd of people and then fleeing the scene.

The officers then chased the suspect into the parking lot of another business and shot him at least three times before taking him into custody.

Two other suspects involved in the shooting were detained.

Police are still investigating what led to the incident.
