Officials are currently investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred outside of a Bass Pro Shop in Dania Beach.

The incident was reported on Friday afternoon in the parking lot of the shop at 200 block of Gulf Stream Way.

Officials with the Drug Enforcement Administration reported that exchanged occurred between a Broward Sheriff’s Drug Task Force deputy and at least one of two suspects during a drug operation.

At around 1:05 p.m. deputies attempted to arrest the suspects when one of the suspects opened fire. The deputy then returned fire.

The deputy and one of the suspects were injured. Both the officer and the suspect were taken to the hospital for treatment. The extend of their injuries is unknown.
