St. Lucie County

Mandatory evacuations will be issued for residents on North & South Hutchinson Island, in low-laying areas and those living in mobile homes, starting Friday at 3 p.m. Once residents leave those areas, they will not be allowed re-entry until the storm passes and public safety official have cleared the roads.

The Havert L. Fenn Center on 2000 Virginia Ave., Fort Pierce will open Friday, September 8th at 9:00 am, however, if you are planning to used the shelter you must preregister at www.stlucieco.gov/eoc.

Eight general population shelters will be opening on Saturday, September 9th at 9:00 a.m.

** Westwood High School will double as a pet friendly shelter, however, pet owners must bring crates for their pets, as well as food, water and litter. All pets must have up-to-date vaccinations. Pets, along with their owners, will be taken on a first-come, first-serve basis. **

West Boynton Recreation Center, 6000 Northtree Boulevard. Pets must be accompanied by one owner who will stay at the nearby Park Vista High School, 7900 S Jog Rd, Lake Worth, FL 33467 -due to space restrictions. Owners will be given schedule to attend to pets. To register :www.pbcgov.com/animal

Miami-Dade

Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez, has issued an evacuation order for residents who live in mobile homes, residents who live in Zone A, and residents of the Barrier Islands, which include: Bal Harbour, Bay Harbour Islands, Golden Beach, Indian Creek Village, Miami Beach, North Bay Village, Sunny Isles Beach and Surfside. Biscayne Park was mentioned in the Mayor’s announcement, however, it is not apart of the evacuation. This evacuation order will go into effect as of 7:00 am Thursday morning.
